Have you ever heard the old saying
“Behind every great man is a great woman” ? That saying definitely holds a lot of truth. I have seen some amazing men of God in my lifetime but if you will take a minute to look at their wives, most often, they are usually not in the limelight themselves... you will find them in the background being quiet, meek, being a servant to those around them, supporting their husbands and their homes—fulfilling their roles as helpmeets. They are content to “hide” their identity in that of their husband’s... They get great joy when their husbands do well or when he is a blessing to others. They don’t need any credit or accolades. They don’t have to be the star of the show or the “main character” but rather, they simply are content in the supporting role that God has given them...
There is something so powerful in this attitude of submission and contentment...
However, in today’s world, there is so much emphasis put on us women to be our own person and not to let our husband or our home hamper our ambitions...it’s all about becoming successful outside the home and being independent from our spouses.
Traditional Biblical womanhood seems to have been pretty much been relegated to something from the 1950s— Something old fogey-ish or old fashioned...
I’m here to testify though that old time Biblical womanhood is still in style. God’s Word never changes and is the same yesterday, today, and forever... what God instituted way back then is still what He requires today... just because the world has migrated away from God and His precepts doesn’t mean we should. We are called to be separate in more than just our outward appearance- that includes even in our way of living and in our mindset... (Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus)
Romans 12:2 teaches us not to take on the worldly mindset of this old world- “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
I know there are extenuating circumstances and sometimes there are times that women do have to work outside the home but that should never be the end goal or desire of a woman (to be so career driven and make a name for herself by being self sufficient— and to neglect the most important roles that God has blessed her with. )
... but more than just working in or out of the home, there has been a drastic shift in the mindset of women across the nation. We have embraced the world’s philosophy of feminism, empowerment, and equality. We have traded something so precious for a cheap gaudy substitute. Proverbs 31:10- Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
God puts great value on a virtuous (or Godly) woman! Worth more than rubies!
I know this is a highly controversial topic but the vast majority of people that will disagree with me are not regular Bible readers or if they claim they are, I can confidently say they are not Bible BELIEVERS!
God never intended for a woman to be lesser than a man— but rather He gave us the highest honor. He trusted us to be a helpmeet to our husbands and a trainer of our children. Through the Word of God, time and time again, God gives such precedent to women in general. He created us women to fulfill roles that only we can truly fill...
Women in this world have come to think of being a wife or a mother as a secondary purpose or something you just add onto your achievements. Often, the role of motherhood and the role of being a wife are pushed to the back burner. Many women are missing out on the true purpose God created us for.
Let’s take a look at Proverbs 31:
The Proverbs 31 woman wasn’t a weak, helpless, little mouse of a woman...
Proverbs 31 portrays a woman of virtue, a woman who fears the Lord...
Her faith is the first thing that sets her apart from other women. She has reverence for God and a teachable spirit that yields to His commands. She respects His authority in her life...
When we yield our lives over to HIM, the natural outcome is that we will do His will. Our lives will begin to produce fruit – good fruit – because that’s what happens when we give Him control of our time and efforts.
“Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit.” Matthew 7:17
The Proverbs 31 wife respects her husband and is a trustworthy helpmeet to him.
She takes time out to train/instruct her children. She is present! She knows that her God given role as a mother is to be an example and to daily teach the children in His ways.
She has a heart to serve others. If you will observe true women of God, they are givers, not takers. They are always willing to lend a hand to help those in need.
The Proverbs 31 woman is frugal with the household budget and doesn’t waste money needlessly...(Proverbs 31:18 -She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.) She is a good steward over the finances of the home -
She is industrious and works hard. Raising a family and taking care of a home is a lot of work. Being a wife and mother, whether you stay at home full time or work outside the home requires a lot of skills!
The Proverbs 31 Woman works willingly with her hands. She doesn’t waste her time. She doesn’t complain about the tasks she has before her. Instead, she works willingly and with a cheerful spirit, doing her daily chores as unto the Lord.
In addition to caring for her home, the Bible tells is she was a smart and savvy business owner. She sewed linen garments and sold them and even planted a vineyard. Some women have no choice but to work outside the home. Others might find ways to make money by working in the home. No matter the position you find yourself in, God is well aware of how hard you work. “Do all things without murmurings and disputings.” Philippians 2:14
Colossians 3:23 says :
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
That verse alone would change a lot of our attitudes—if we started doing things as if we were doing them for God himself...A lot of times, we will desire to do some big great thing to “serve” God when our greatest calling is already set before us. He has already commissioned us as wives, mothers, and children of God.
The Proverbs 31 woman sure doesn’t sound like a weak, mousy lady who can’t think for herself to me. She sounds like some kind of superhero lol 😂— Just because you choose to follow God’s path and pursue Biblical womanhood doesn’t mean you are not “doing something with your life or wasting your talents”. It is one of the hardest yet most rewarding ”careers” you could ever accept. So let me encourage you today ...don’t allow the world’s philosophy to influence you or make you feel lesser because you choose Biblical womanhood. We as holiness women- daughters of the King- must allow God to shine through us and push back some of the darkness of this world.
The Bible tells us in
Matthew 5:14 — Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
So shine on, dear sister!! Don’t listen to the enemy’s lies! You are fulfilling a HIGHER calling!! We are not of this world 🌎
We are a separate and peculiar people—we are pilgrims just passing through this old world. This isn’t our final destination!! We are on our way to a better Home!! -Tiphanie
I don’t know if the Lord would allow you to but it would be wonderful for you to write all of your great writings in a book just a thought ❤️
