Happy 4th of July!! And other musings…

Updated: Jul 4, 2021

I am so thankful to the Lord and our founding fathers who had a vision to become an independent nation governed by the principles of the Bible. They were willing to sacrifice everything to see that dream become reality. They were common working men from all walks of life, yet they answered the call to service without hesitation. They fought and secured our independence from England and then, they built a government founded upon the Word of God. They recognized the need to have a Higher authority than simply man‘s reasoning. They left a legacy that we enjoy still today. They built a foundation for America to be “like a city set on a hill”… because America was founded by men who recognized their only hope lay in Christ. They knew as mere mortal men, they couldn’t properly govern a people. Like King Solomon in the Bible, they realized they must be granted wisdom from another world.

“In God We Trust” became their motto.

Their courthouses proudly displayed the Ten Commandments as their outline for judgement.

The Bible was just as much a part of the school curriculum as reading, writing, and arithmetic.

They realized being lead by God’s guidance was the only way to run government properly.

Psalm 33:12 —Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord ; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance

America’s greatness wasn’t so much because of our tolerance and our equality in America back then but rather, it was because our trust, our faith, and our confidence was solely rooted in God.

As a person adheres to Biblical truths, naturally, they begin to see others through the eyes of God. They don’t see race, skin color, or class of people. There is no judgement based on birth. There is only care and concern for their neighbor.

For those who are so incensed at the inequality in our nation today, the solutions don’t really lay in protest, riots, or reform! The only true remedy lies in returning back to God.

Galatians 3:26-29 teaches us: For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. [27] For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise..

John 15:12– This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

The Bible is still just as relevant today for us as it was way back in 1776 with our founders. It isn’t antiquated or outdated! It is the LIVING, BREATHING, INSPIRED WORD of Almighty God!! It is full of Biblical truths that allow us to “become” better people! God gave us direction on how we should treat our fellow man. He gave us instruction on how to “train” our children. He gave us sound advice on how to deal with problems and sin. He even gave direction for instating leadership and government.

As we look across America on this 4th of July, yes, we may see her problems,

yes, we may see her failures,

yes, we may see her flaws,

yes, we may even see how far she has fallen away from the Godly heritage upon which she was founded….

But she is still the greatest nation on the earth right now! Because of those people who were willing to give it all, America HAS truly been the Home of the FREE because of the brave!!

While it does seem that evil is prevailing in this hour, don’t despair! There is hope for America still.

This hope does NOT reside in the White House. It does NOT walk down the halls of Congress. It does NOT dwell in our governors’ mansions nor our lively town halls….

Hope for America can be found in your home and in mine again when we must humble ourselves and fall back on our knees, crying out for mercy for her!! God is her only hope!!

We, as Christians, must recognize that this battle for our nation today isn’t one to be fought by sieging Yorktown, or by battling on the fields of Gettysburg, nor by taking to the sky in a bomber plane to defend the nation against attack at Pearl Harbor. While all of those battles (and many more) all played pivotal roles in our victorious American history, 🇺🇸 we are in much more dangerous war today. This war we are fighting isn’t one to be fought with flesh and blood, or guns and planes but rather, it is a spiritual battle for the soul of our nation.

2 Chronicles 7:14– If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

In His Word, God offers a few warnings to those nations who reject and forsake God.

Proverbs 14:34—Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Isaiah 60:12–For the nation and kingdom that will not serve Thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
Jeremiah 12:17 —But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the Lord.
Psalm 9:17—The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Jeremiah 2:11-13 —Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. [12] Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the Lord. [13] For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

As Christians, we are the ones standing against the tide of Satan who is trying to destroy our country. Because the Church has kept silent on critical issues and refused to “get involved” over the last 60 years, we are now seeing the fruits of that choice. We are experiencing such a decline of morals, common sense, and basic decency. The overall church world today does not not look all that much differently than the worldly crowd. Most the time, There IS no visual difference. In order to not “rock the boat” with the world:

We have replaced the anointing of the Holy Ghost with worked-up superficial emotionalism.

We have replaced our traditional church hymns (packed with Gospel truths) with fluffy, feel-good, self exalting rhythms.

We have traded our strong men of God who weren’t afraid to preach the Word for weak men in our pulpits who like to “tickle our ears” with flowery words and self pleasing sentiments.

We have exchanged our holy, sanctified, separated life for one with no restraints, restrictions, or convictions.

We have replaced our daily walk with God, our powerful prayer life, and our devotion in the Word with busy days filled with entertainment, distractions, demanding careers, and pampering the flesh.

Schools have removed Biblical teaching from their curriculum in order to become more “inclusive” and not be “offensive”. They have taken to handing out sex ed packets. They have begun to teach unGodly, inappropriate views of promiscuity, anatomy, marriage, abortions, alternate lifestyles, and much more filth and perversion.

All the while, we have convinced ourselves that we are doing “good enough” as Christians… but look around you. Do you like what America is becoming?

I know I do not. 😫

I want to join ranks of the “spiritual” militia…

The men of the Revolutionary War (or the minutemen as they were then called) weren’t some superheroes or some highly trained, well equipped soldiers. More often that not, they even lacked a lot of basic essentials. In fact, they didn’t have the proper training nor the necessary equipment to defeat the British. Statistically, it seemed impossible for the rag-tag army to outwit and outmaneuver the more trained, skilled, professional British Red Coats!

So, what was the difference?

How were they able to win the war

against all odds?

The difference was simply this: The British and their mercenaries were fighting because they were either ordered to by the King or because they were being paid to do so. They didn’t have any real invested interest in the outcome itself.

The Americans, on the other hand, were fighting for much more than a duty or for a paycheck. They were fighting for their wives, their children, and their homes! They were fighting for their freedoms, their ideology, their churches, and their liberties. They were fighting for their livelihoods, their lands, and their futures. They were greatly vested in the battle because they knew their very way of life was at stake!!

Just like those minutemen, we too must be willing to rise to the occasion and defend our nation from this pervasive cancer of radical extremism. We must purge our own hearts from the world’s way of thinking, allow God to renew our minds, and we must cling to the Word of the Lord as our “measuring line” to examine our lives. Fight FOR someone else!!!

Jeremiah exhorts his men, in Nehemiah 4:14, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

Even if your actions may never seem drastic enough to affect the entire nation, you can still be used by God to affect a single soul in that nation! You will be surprised at the domino effect.

So while America still does, indeed,

have her issues, (and we are fervently praying for a spiritual awakening, repentance, and revival!!)

I’m not ashamed to say :

I still love our country!

I still respect our flag 🇺🇸!

I still appreciate having the freedom

to worship without fear of repercussions!

I still value the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!!

I am also so appreciative for all the brave men and women who have fought, bled and died to give us the freedoms we all hold dear today!!

so, Happy Independence Day!!

Seek to become one of God’s spiritual minutemen,

Allow him to “equip” you for the battle.

From my heart to yours,

-Tiphanie ❤️
